2 People Become Suspects Of The Pastor's Stabbing Case In Wamena, Threatened With 5 Years In Prison
JAKARTA - The personnel of the Jayawijaya Resort Police, Polda Papua, have named two suspects with the initials KW (25) and TA (26) for attacking a priest until he was stabbed and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Jayawijaya Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dominggus Rumaropen said the two people had been arrested at the local police headquarters.
"The two people we have named as suspects are KW and TA. Both of them are currently detained," said Dominggus in Wamena, the capital of Jayawijaya Regency, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 3.
Meanwhile, three other people who also underwent an examination of the incident, have already been sent home because they only have status as witnesses.
"These three people are required to report every day at the Jayawijaya Police," he said.
While carrying out the stabbing, the two men were being influenced by alcohol and the police would apply primary sanctions to Article 551 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code, subsidiary 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.
"This is about severe persecution that carries a five-year prison sentence for KW and TA," he said.
The former Kasatpol PP Kota Jayapura said the victim's condition had started to improve. The police continue to anticipate attacks from the victim to the perpetrator.
The police thanked the families of the victims who had heard the appeal and did not take retaliation.
