786 Border Residents Get PLN Electricity Supply
PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) presents 24-hour electricity for 786 families in Temajuk Village, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan which is directly adjacent to Malaysia.
To present 24-hour electricity, PLN operates a Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 371 kiloWatt peak (kWp) with 708 kiloWatt hour (kWh) batteries.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo revealed, along with the celebration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day, PLN is committed to continuing to realize energy justice for the entire community. The operation of environmentally friendly plants in Temajuk is one of PLN's efforts to fulfill the right of every citizen to electrical energy.
"This is the most beautiful gift at the 78th Indonesian Independence Day for border communities in Sambas Regency to be able to enjoy PLN electricity for 24 full hours. This is also a form of the state being present for our brothers and sisters in remote areas, who also have the right to enjoy electrical energy," said Darmawan, Friday, August 18.
He said that the operation of the Temajuk PLTS does not only support the daily activities of residents, but also improves the wheels of the economy.
Moreover, he said, the position of Temajuk Village is considered strategic for the development of border areas. It is only less than 1 kilometer away from the national limit, on weekends many foreign tourists from Malaysia and domestic tourists visit Temajuk Village.
"Apart from traveling to the beach, there are not a few tourists who just eat or travel culinary in Temajuk Village. The existence of reliable electricity will certainly encourage the economic growth of the people there," said Darmawan.
He emphasized that PLN continues to accelerate the village electricity program so that all villages including the 3T area in Indonesia can enjoy electricity in 2024.
"Electric access is an important need for all Indonesian people. PLN continues to strive for the development of electricity in the area as a form of practice of the 5th precept of Pancasila, namely social justice for all Indonesian people. This is a tangible manifestation of the state being present for those in the 3T area," said Darmawan.
Efforts to pursue this target PLN is taking aggressive steps in infrastructure development. PLN is also transforming the village electricity program so that its achievements are more accelerated.
Through the village electricity transformation, PLN succeeded in mapping programs that were more comprehensive. In the past, mapping unelectriced areas was still carried out by PLN units manually using various tools. Monitoring is still carried out through data collection through direct location surveys that take time and are fragmented.

Now with digital transformation, the village electricity planning system is built digitally based through the Geographic Information System (GIS). PLN is able to provide a much more comprehensive planning system. Digital location mapping is able to calculate the distance, altitude and other data used to present projective data for village electricity infrastructure needs.
With this digitization, PLN is able to develop village development planning more quickly and accurately. All PLN units now have tools for mapping the potential of village electricity that are uniform, unified and can be monitored in real time.
With this transformation, our commitment to electrify all corners of the country can be accelerated. Every citizen in this republic has the right to access fair electricity. Nobody left behind," concluded Darmawan.
