Trump's Criticism Of Parasite For Winning An Oscar
JAKARTA - The Parasite victory at the 2020 Oscars is a matter of pride for South Korea. But the film, which won four prestigious awards, was criticized by US President Donald Trump.
“How bad is the Academy Awards this year? The winner is from South Korea. What the hell? " said Trump while campaigning in Colorado Springs, as quoted by the New York Post.
Not only criticizing, Trump also insinuated Oscar for winning the foreign language film from South Korea. Trump made this insinuation because he saw that the relationship between the two countries was not good enough, especially in the trade sector.
"Is that good? I do not know. Give it to Gone with the Wind. Can we bring back the movie Sunset Boulevard? So many other good films, ”Trump said as he recalled the 1939 film Gone With the Wind.
Indeed, Trump has appeared in the film industry quite often. In addition to having a reality show titled The Apprentice, Trump also often appears as a cameo in the films Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and Sex and the City.

Bong Joon Ho as the director of the film Parasite, has not responded to the criticism from the American President. However, the film which tells the story of the Poor and the rich's family has indeed been distributed internationally, including the United States.
"When you overcome the barrier of one inch of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many wonderful films," said Bong when answering the criticism of the foreign language subtitles in the film.
On the other hand, the film Parasite will be adapted in the form of a television series that will be broadcast on HBO. Together with Director Bong, this series will feature several new scenes that did not appear in the big screen version. Reportedly, Tilda Swinton will be the main character in this series.
