Pereroyok TNI Soldiers In Bengkulu Sentenced To 3.5 Years-4.5 Years In Prison

BENGKULU - The panel of judges at the Curup District Court, Bengkulu, sentenced four children to face the law (ABH) in prison for 3.5 years and 4.5 years in prison. They were declared proven to be involved in the case of the beating of two members of the Indonesian Army.

The trial of the case of the beating of two members of the Infantry Battalion 144 / Jaya Yudha Curup which caused one death and another serious injury was held virtually from the Curup District Court.

The four defendants involved in this case were tried in two different files, in which case file number 1 on behalf of KP, RW and MA was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. Meanwhile, case file number 2 was in the name of ABH J, who was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison.

The verdict from the panel of judges on behalf of KP, RW and MA for 3.5 years is much lighter than the prosecutor's demands. Then the defendant on behalf of J also received a lighter sentence of 4.5 years compared to the original prosecutor's demands of 7.5 years.

Meanwhile Hendra Saputra, the legal adviser to the defendant MA, said that his party was still thinking about the verdict of the Curup District Court judges. Meanwhile, the defendants KP and RW stated that they accepted the decision of the Curup PN panel of judges.

"We are still thinking, if the other two ABH, namely KP and RW, their legal advisers were not present so they were represented by Bapas officers," he said as quoted by Antara, Monday, February 1.

Previously, these four defendants along with four other perpetrators were involved in the beating of two members of the 144 / Jaya Yudha Curup Infantry Battalion on December 31, 2020. The attack on Setia Negara Square, Curup, caused Second Private Yofan Setiandi to die as a result of being hit by a sharp weapon and First Private. Agus Salim was seriously injured.
