TP3 Formed By Amien Rais Et Al. Still Believed There Was No Shootout From The FPI Laskar And The Police
JAKARTA - The Murder Incident Guard Team (TP3) formed by Amien Rais and a number of other figures still believe that there was no gun battle between the police and the six FPI troops during the clash on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road.
One of the TP3 initiators, Marwan Batubara, admitted that his party trusted the testimony of former officials of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) that the six laskar did not carry any weapons at the time of the incident.
"Based on testimony from FPI officials, the FPI paramilitary troops do not have weapons, have never carried out attacks and thus a gun battle is impossible," Marwan said in a virtual press conference, Monday, February 1.
FPI's admission about the soldiers being not equipped with weapons is inversely proportional to the results of the investigation by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) and the police investigation.
Because of that, Marwan admitted that his party did not trust the results of the investigation by Komnas HAM and the police.
"The process of investigating the murder of 6 FPI laskar is still far from expectations and in fact tends to contradict the objective conditions and facts on the ground. Both the National Police and the National Human Rights Commission have provided investigation reports that can be deemed to lead to misleading opinions and cover up the true incident," he said.
Marwan considered that the actions of the state apparatus who shot the six FPI troops had exceeded the limits and were beyond their authority, namely using violent means outside of legal procedures.
"This brutal act of government officials is a form of insult to the legal process and denial of the presumption of innocence in law enforcement and justice," he said.
Previously, Omnas HAM had completed an investigation into a shooting case involving the police and six FPI troops and had submitted it to the President as a recommendation for handling the case.
As a result, Komnas HAM discovered the fact that there was shooting between the police and the FPI Special Army. This is obtained from the testimonies of witnesses and evidence gathered.
