Police Denies Blackmailing Husband And Wife Accused Of Stealing Cellphone At Suzuya Tanjung Morawa, There Is CCTV Evidence
MEDAN - A married couple with the initials SN (26) and MF (25), a resident of Medan Area, were accused of stealing cellphones at Suzuya Mall, Tanjung Morawa. The couple's case files have been transferred to the Deli Serdang Prosecutor's Office to be tried immediately
Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, said that the case of the theft of a cellphone was reported by the victim named Jefri Sembiring to the Tanjung Morawa Police.
"Currently the files have been transferred to the Deli Serdang Prosecutor's Office, investigators are waiting for the P-21 process and the transfer of suspects and evidence," he said.
From the investigation, the police said that theft was caught on surveillance cameras / CCTV at Suzuya Mall, Tanjung Morawa.
"So it is not true that the husband and wife wait until late at night for the owner (victim) of the cellphone to come to meet to retrieve their belongings. Meanwhile, the statement from the Sujuya Mall has announced several times that someone lost their cellphone," continued Kombes Hadi.
He also denied the allegation that the police had blackmailed a husband and wife when the case was handled by the Tanjung Morawa Police.
"It is not true that investigators ask the perpetrators for money for the peace process. In fact, investigators have suspended the detention of the married couple who committed the theft of the cellphone," said Kombes Hadi.
"The cellphone theft case at Suzuya Mall continues according to the victim's report and the case files have been transferred to the Deli Serdang Prosecutor's Office," he said.
The Tanjung Morawa Police Team previously arrested a married couple SN and MF in the Medan Area. Both had admitted that they wanted to return the cellphone found at the Suzuya Mall clothing store.
To journalists, SN and MF who were accompanied by their legal counsel, Roni Prima Panggabean and Jhon Sipayung told that on December 26, 2020, both of them were shopping at Suzuya Suzuya Mall. This couple admits that they have found a no-man's Android phone.
The cellphone was then taken. This couple admitted to waiting until the owner came.
"But because it was late at night and no one came to pick it up, I took the cellphone home with the hope that someone would call," said Nuraisyah, Thursday, January 28.
