Fire In Penjaringan, Assistance For Affected Residents Don't Be Slow
JAKARTA - The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked for the aid process for fire victims in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, to be received quickly and evenly by all affected residents. He reminded that basic needs are a priority for assistance.
"Prepare a public kitchen at the evacuation post. Food, milk, medicines and diapers for children must also be available. Don't be slow to provide assistance to victims," said Puan, Monday, July 31.
A great fire broke out on Jalan Vikamas Selatan, Kapuk Muara Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, Sunday (30/7) yesterday. A total of 400 houses were affected by the fire, some of which were destroyed.
From the records of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), at least 1,109 residents were forced to evacuate in a refugee camp located on Jalan Kapuk Utara 2 for the time being after their houses were affected by the fire.
Puan encouraged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to be quick to handle disaster response situations. He stressed that assistance to fire victims should be a priority.
"Food and food assistance must be a priority. Ensure that assistance is received by affected residents, including masks and other sanitation needs considering the evacuation site is in a sandy place that can cause residents' breathing to be disrupted," said Puan.
The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives also asked the local government to alert a psychological team and counselors around the refugee camp. Because, said Puan, fire victims are often traumatic due to fires that cause them to lose their property.
"Although the recovery process will take a long time and tough challenges, support and concern are the forces able to overcome these difficulties and help fire victims rebuild their lives," said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
In addition, Puan also encouraged assistance for fire victims whose houses were sold out in the red rooster's roof. He said that housing is one of the basic needs for the community.
"Local governments need to provide support for victims regarding certainty to rebuild houses, educational facilities, and other important infrastructure that were burned down," explained Puan.

On the other hand, the grandson of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia, Bung Karno, said that the solidarity of the local community and assistance from the government were needed to become a strong pillar in meeting the needs of fire victims. Puan invites all stakeholders to work together to help residents affected by the fire to recover as usual.
"Hopefully a better future will continue to light up in the hearts of the victims, if all parties provide ongoing physical and moral support for them," he explained.
"I also ask members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the North Jakarta electoral district and the relevant commission to participate in monitoring the sustainability of the needs of residents affected by the fire," concluded Puan.
