Erick Thohir Appoints Agus Martowardojo As President Commissioner Of BNI

JAKARTA - BUMN Minister Erick Thohir entrusted Agus DW Martowardojo to become the President Commissioner of PT Bank Nasional Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI).

The former Governor of Bank Indonesia officially became the BNI Commissioner after the company's General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) held today, Thursday, February 20.

Erick said, the inclusion of Agus DW Martowardojo in the ranks of BNI Commissioners is expected to improve BNI's performance both domestically and strengthening markets abroad.

"With Mr. Agus DW Martowardojo's experience in the banking world, we hope to cooperate with the Board of Directors and make BNI an even bigger state-owned bank," said Erick Thohir.

The man who is familiarly called Agus Marto was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, January 24, 1956.

He successfully earned a Bachelor of Economics at the age of 28 from the University of Indonesia. In this education, Agus also continued his studies in banking at the State University of New York and Stanford University in America, then continued to the Banking & Finance Institute in Singapore.

Agus started his career at the age of 28 in banking as Officer Development Program (ODP) at Bank of America, as an International Loan Office. His career continued to climb, in the end Agus worked at Bank Niaga as Vice President, Corporate Banking Group in Surabaya and Jakarta.

The peak of Agus Marto's career was when he served as Minister of Finance in 2010-2013. Finally, Agus Marto served as Governor of Bank Indonesia from 2013-2018.
