Kadin Plans To Form A Tourism Cluster To Spur The Economy

MEDAN - Kadin plans to form a Tourism Cluster Kadin to accelerate the movement of the domestic economy in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"There are discussions on the formation of the Tourism Cluster Kadin. Although for the initial stage, there are five provinces that have super priority destinations for Indonesia," said Chairman of the North Sumatra Kadin Ivan Iskandar Batubara in Medan, Sunday, January 31.

The five super priority tourist destinations are Lake Toba North Sumatra, Likupang North Sulawesi, Borobudur Central Java, Mandalika West Nusa Tenggara, and Labuan Bajo East Nusa Tenggara.

"The plan to form the Tourism Cluster Kadin is in line with President Jokowi's policy to focus on tourism development in the region which is considered very potential," he said.

Ivan has not clearly detailed the Tourism Cluster Kadin on the grounds that it is still in the stage of serious discussions and coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

"We will inform you again after the final results are made. But the formation of the Tourism Cluster Kadin aims to accelerate the economy in that sector which is considered potential and can improve more quickly in the midst of a pandemic," said Ivan.

What is certain, he said, is that with a focus on moving the economy in five super priority tourist destinations, Kadin believes economic movement can be faster despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ivan said that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the economy of Indonesia and all countries have been slumping in all sectors, including tourism.
