200 Families Of Fire Victims In Penjaringan Jakut Refuge

A total of 200 families (KK) who were victims of the fire in RT 01/RW 03 Kapuk Muara Village, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, fled to a tent provided by the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

"There are 200 families with an estimated 1,000 people who have fled to two tents that have been established with assistance from the Regional Disaster Management Agency and from the Social Service," said Head of Kapuk Muara Village, Jason Simanjuntak, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 30.

His party is also setting up two additional tents from the BPBD and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

The fire that hit densely populated settlements was localized by officers from the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. by deploying 25 fire engines and 140 personnel.

It is certain that the fire could not spread to other buildings around the area.

Jason said he had not received any reports regarding the number of casualties or injuries in the incident. But he made sure the fire survivors were already in a safe place.

"They need clothes, underwear, baby diapers and the elderly as well as medical help," Jason said.

The area that caught fire was the area of Kampung Empang. As a result of the fire, some of the houses that were there were destroyed by fire.

Not only that, a warehouse located close to residential areas was also burned down.

"Actually, there are warehouses that store various items, including perfumes, plywood, plastics and various items as well," said Jason.

Gulkarmat Jakut Sub-department (Sudin) officers are still cooling the burned material so as not to cause re-ignition.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Penjaringan Sector Police, North Jakarta (Jakut).
