Starting Tomorrow, GWK Cultural Park Bali Will Be Closed From Tourist Visits
JAKARTA - The Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, Bali tourism area will be temporarily closed from general tourist visits. The closure will start on Monday, February 1 for an undetermined deadline.
GM Marketing Communication & Event GWK Cultural Park, Andre Prawiradisastra said the decision to close was a form of support for local government policies in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The decision to temporarily close operations is also due to the fact that as the number of tourist visits increases, the risk of the spread of COVID-19 is also lurking," Andre said when contacted by Antara, Sunday, January 31.
The GWK area was previously closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened in early December 2020. The management of GWK Cultural Park, said Andre, pays great attention to efforts to tackle the COVID-19 virus.
He hopes that this policy can provide positive results. "During this closing period, our employees can carry out independent protection with a smaller risk of transmission and it is hoped that with this the efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic can run optimally," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the closure of the GWK, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that his party wanted to ensure that the decision to close the GWK was a synergy to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases.
"As soon as we can suppress COVID-19 on the curve, we will signal enough time so that they can prepare to reopen," said Sandiaga Uno.
Regarding the closure of the GWK, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno will also coordinate with the Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov) and the Badung Regency Government.
"I will certainly coordinate with the provincial and district governments because GWK is also a destination that can be visited by up to five thousand people per day," said Sandiaga Uno.
