Overcoming Overcrowding In Wuhan, Hubei Has A New Airport

JAKARTA - Hubei Province in the central region of China has a new airport which is projected to overcome the density of Tianhe Airport in Wuhan City.

Sashi Airport, which is located on 143 hectares of land in Jingzhou City, was first landed by the plane from Guangzhou on Saturday, January 30. This was the statement of Hubei Airports Group Company (HAGC) reported by Antara, Sunday, January 31.

With the operation of Sashi Airport, Hubei Province has seven airports for civil aviation.

With an investment value of 1.3 billion yuan or around Rp. 2.8 trillion, construction of Sashi Airport began in 2018 with the design to accommodate 700 thousand passengers per year by 2025.

HAGC stated that the new airport will be connected to several cities in China, such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xi'an and Hangzhou.

With the new airport, HAGC continued, tourist visits to Hubei will increase and the province will also have an integrated transportation center besides Wuhan.

Almost all provinces or provincial-level cities in China have more than one airport. Even Shanghai has two international airports, namely Hongqiao and Pudong.

Likewise, Beijing has two major international airports, namely the Capital Airport (BCIA) and Daxing, as well as five medium and small airports that still accommodate commercial aircraft.
