President Jokowi Is Proud That The Young Nahdliyin And Santri Play A Role In Empowering The Economy Of The People
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said he was proud of the young Nahdliyin and the students who played an active role in empowering the economy of the people.
"I am proud to witness the young Nahdliyin and the students taking an active role in empowering the Islamic boarding school-based ummah," said the President in a virtual speech at the 95th Harlah of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Saturday, January 30.
Jokowi conveyed that every time he visited Islamic boarding schools, he was optimistic about the students. This is because the students do not only understand religious knowledge, but also entrepreneurship.
"In fact, currently the santri are digitally literate and not a few have become pioneers of information technology that can bring real benefits to this country," he said as quoted by Antara.
According to him, kiai, nyai and santri have a strategic role, together with all national stakeholders to participate in building Indonesia's future, especially in responding to the challenges of the industrial revolution era 4.0 and global competition.
Jokowi said that in the midst of the changing and increasingly complex challenges of the era, NU was always at the forefront of defending the interests of the nation and state.
"We all see evidence that NU plays a major role in educating the nation's life, moving the spirit of nationalism and the spirit of tolerance and fighting all forms of radicalism and terrorism," said the President.
Jokowi congratulated NU on celebrating 95th Harlah. The Head of State prays that Allah SWT will always bless and bless Nahdlatul Ulama and Nahdliyin citizens around the world.
"Let us continue to support Nahdlatul Ulama in order to move and continue to contribute to strengthening the life of the Indonesian nation and advancing world civilization, with the spirit of Islam that is the archipelago which is rahmatan lil alamin," said Jokowi.
