Bandung Becomes The Host Of The 2023 PWI XXV Congress, West Java Police Chief Supports Security
BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Regional Police (Polda) fully supports and is ready to facilitate security at the implementation of the XXV Congress of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in 2023 in Bandung City, West Java Province, September 25-26, 2023.
The affirmation was conveyed directly by the Head of the West Java Regional Police, Inspector General Pol Akhmad Wiyagus when receiving an audience from the West Java PWI XXV Congress Implementing Committee in his office at the West Java Police Headquarters Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, Bandung City, Thursday, July 27, 2023.
Present at the meeting were the Chief Executive of the XXV PWI Congress Marthen SelAMEt Susanto, Secretary Hardiyansah, Deputy Secretary Tb. Adhi, Treasurer Ati Suprihatin, and the ranks of West Java PWI administrators including Tantan Sulthon Buchawan, Ahmad Syukri, Satrya Graha, Erwin Kustiman, Dedy Suhaeri, and Yadi Mulyadi.
"Of course, we welcome it positively and fully support the implementation of the congress. Moreover, it will also be attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, so that in its place we will carry out security in various aspects. Including later inside security, during the congress it will also be our concert," said Kapolda Inspector General Akhmad Wiyagus.
He said that in this case, the West Java PWI as the executor deserves to be proud to be appointed to host an event which he considers to have strategic value.
"Of course, the PWI Congress has strategic value. However, the designated host is certainly a matter of pride. Moreover, this city will be visited by several participants from all PWI representatives in various provinces in the country," said the police officer who carries out the mandate as the West Java Police Chief since March 27, 2023.
Graduates of the 1989 Akpol who are experienced in the field of detective, jokingly said that the West Java PWI had the right place to hold the XXV Congress later at the El Royale Hotel.
"Besides the location, it is so strategic that it is easy to visit from any direction in the city of Bandung, it is flanked by the Bandung Police Headquarters and my official residence. That's right," said the figure who was born on September 23, 1967 in Tasikmalaya, West Java, which was greeted with laughter from the audience.
Meanwhile, Marthen SelAMEt Susanto expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support and facilitation conveyed by the West Java Police Chief. He represented all ranks of the Central PWI and West Java PWI to feel calm and optimistic that the congress would run safely, smoothly, and successfully thanks to the full support of the West Java Police.
"Although there has never been a commotion and should not be like that, in the implementation of a congress whose main agenda is to change the leadership of the organization, it must be vulnerable to reaping conflict. This audience with the Kapolda is part of a preventive effort and ensures that the congress runs well. We are very grateful for the support of the Kapolda who is very sympathetic," said Marthen SelAMEt.
He said the five-year moment of the PWI Congress had been running for the 25th time. So the age of PWI is older than the independence of this country. The same is true with the age of PSSI. From congress to congress, there are always ripples that occur and that's natural. However, there is never an anarchic situation and it should not happen.
"So, we hope that the cool air in Bandung City will also bring cool congress atmospheres," he said.
On the other hand, Secretary of the PWI XXV Congressional Committee, Hardiansyah said the local committee from PWI Bandung City and West Java PWI had made the best preparations to welcome congress participants from all over the country.
"The central and local committees have made preparations and coordination. Every contingent from PWI in various provinces will also include joyers in addition to limited number of observers. In fact, the number of jostrants can be more. This also needs to be anticipated," he said.
As is known, Bandung City was appointed to host the XXV Congress of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in 2023 by the Central PWI. This five-year congress will be held on September 25-26 at the EL Hotel, followed by hundreds of participants from 38 PWI of Solo Provinces and special branches, outside of reviewers and cheerers.
The General Chairperson of the Central PWI who is also the person in charge of the Atal Sembiring Depari Congress hopes that the XXV 2023 Congress will run well and be successful.
