Ukrainian Caucasian Woman Steals 3 Passenger Luggages At Ngurah Rai Airport

The Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police revealed the chronology of a female Caucasian from Ukraine with the initials GI (33) who stole three suitcases belonging to passengers at the arrival Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Badung, Bali.

"He did not find his suitcase and had carried out searches everywhere but did not find it and the perpetrator at that time saw several suitcases in front of Lost and Found at the Arrival Terminal of Ngurah Rai Airport, his intention was to take the suitcases," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ngurah Rai Airport Area. Iptu Rio said the woman, who is known to work as a lawyer, committed theft at the International Arrival Terminal on Friday (21/7) around the time between 03.00-06.00 WITA shortly after traveling from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

He explained that the police first received a report from an employee of PT. Gapura about the loss of a suitcase belonging to three passengers at the Lost and Found terminal of the Arrival International Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Tuban, Badung.

The three passengers who owned the suitcase were named Wu Jiehao, Zampeli and Afroti, said Rio.

After receiving the complaint report, he and the Garuda Bhuana Opsnal Team of the Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police conducted an investigation including checking CCTV at the location of the loss of the suitcases.

From the results of CCTV observations, officers found that a foreign national took the belongings of the victims.

Armed with CCTV footage and characteristics of the perpetrator, the Garuda Bhuana Opsnal team Sat Reskrim Airport Police pursued the whereabouts of the perpetrator who was finally detected on Sunday (23/7). At that time, the perpetrator was suspected of staying at an inn in Uluwatu, Badung.

The officer who had pocketed the whereabouts of the perpetrator immediately headed to the place. However, there the hotel employee said the perpetrator had checked out the day before.

The Opsnal team asked to conduct a search of the room used by the alleged perpetrator and found a damaged gray suitcase and its belongings scattered.

"Our Opsnal team continued to pursue on the same day around 12 noon to find the perpetrator with the initial name GI at a hotel in the Pecatu area, South Kuta, Badung. The perpetrators and their evidence were immediately taken to the Airport Police for further investigation," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Iptu Rio.

From the results of the examination, the Ukrainian woman admitted that she had taken three suitcases belonging to the victims.

Apart from the perpetrators, the police also secured a number of evidences in the form of three suitcases, a number of clothes and an Air Asia boarding pass on behalf of the perpetrator GI.

According to Rio, for the perpetrator's actions, the victim suffered a loss of approximately Rp. 270 million. However, there was no information about the missing goods, causing losses of up to hundreds of millions.

Currently, the perpetrators of Ukrainian foreigners have been declared suspects in the theft case in accordance with Article 362 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of five years in prison.

"The suspect has been detained and placed in the Bali Police Detention Center," said Rio.
