Erick Thohir: BUMN Is Palugada, Do You Want Me To Exist
JAKARTA - BUMN Minister Erick Thohir said the main key to communication and sustainability is trust. Therefore, his party always emphasizes the importance of maintaining trust in stakeholders and the people of Indonesia.
"I have to underline again when talking about communications and sustainability, the most important thing is trust. There is no way we can communicate well if trust is low, it is impossible for us to do good sustainability if we don't believe it," he said, at the top event of the BUMN Corporate Communications and Sustainability Summit ( BCOMSS), Friday, January 29.
According to Erick, BUMN is obliged to carry out the trust that has been given by the government by contributing to the state through taxes to the distribution of dividends.
"Incidentally, this BUMN is Palugada, do you want me to exist, of all these things must be done. What is no less important is how we are responsible to society through public service," he said.
The former Inter Milan boss admits that he is grateful for the achievements made by BUMN in the midst of difficult conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, BUMNs are still able to hold social events worth IDR 2.7 trillion to help the community.
Erick further said that hard work and commitment to implementing good corporate governance gave a positive image to BUMN.
"Seeing that the results of public perceptions are very good for BUMN, not GR (big feeling), but 60 percent of the reports are pretty good for BUMN, 80 percent even have a positive response," he said.
Currently, said Erick, appreciation for BUMN does not only come from the community. But it also comes from the capital market industry. Where, for the first time, BUMN shares are no less attractive to international and private companies in Indonesia.
According to Erick, the positive achievements of BUMN under his leadership over the past year cannot be separated from the hard work together between the Ministry of BUMN and state-owned companies in carrying out the same vision and mission.
"Of course, this is a big appreciation. We can share a vision of one heart, which is none other than the same vision and mission, namely trust, GCG (good corporate governance), and transparency. That is the key to sustainability in BUMN," he said.
