Robbers Who Cracked A Minimarket Safe In Bekasi For IDR 46 Million Are Chased By The Police
JAKARTA - The Bekasi Metropolitan Police are hunting for robbers who took away Rp46 million in cash from the safe of a convenience store in Kampung Tegal Danas RT 1/1, Jayamukti Village, Cikarang Pusat District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, Friday, January 29.
"We are still pursuing this perpetrator," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bekasi Metropolitan Police, AKBP Telly Alvin in Cikarang, reported by Antara, Friday, January 29.
Telly said, based on information from local security officers, the robbery began when a minimarket employee named Kurnia Herawati opened the mini market rolling gate at around 5:50 a.m. because she was about to enter to prepare to open a shop.
The door, he said, had actually been closed again but was not locked. Meanwhile, Kurnia's colleague, Dadang, entered the warehouse intending to open the safe to retrieve the cash that would be deposited.
At around 06.50 WIB, he said, a perpetrator entered the shop pretending to want to shop, but Kurnia refused because it was not yet time for the shop to open.
The perpetrator then left the minimarket, but not long after, the man returned with another actor and immediately launched his action.
"The perpetrator tried to cover Kurnia's mouth, but Kurnia rebelled and asked for help," said Telly.
Hearing Kurnia's scream, Dadang, who happened to be in the warehouse, approached Kurnia but was instead mugged with a knife by one of the perpetrators who asked her to show him the safe.
"Because the safe was open, the money in the safe was immediately taken by the perpetrator and put in a plastic bag. Then the perpetrator covered Kurnia and Dadang's mouths with duct tape. Hands and feet were also tied using rope and duct tape, while the perpetrator immediately rushed to leave the scene. "he said.
The two victims who were held in captivity finally managed to escape, but the two perpetrators had managed to escape with cash worth IDR 46 million.
"The victim immediately asked for help from local residents and reported this case to us to be followed up," he said.
