The Police Uncover Illegal Cosmetics Factory, Product Distribution Around Java

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has uncovered a large-scale illegal cosmetic case. The distribution of its products is almost all over Java.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said that in this case one of the houses in the Jatirasa area, Bekasi City was raided. The house was turned into a factory for making illegal cosmetics.

"Dangerous cosmetic ingredients that do not have a distribution permit. So the disclosure of cases of cosmetic ingredients that do not have distribution permits. Here is the place where they were made", Yusri told reporters, Friday, January 29.

"From this National Agency of Drug and Food Control (POM) Agency, it is reported that the distribution has been circulating almost all over Java, there are four types (cosmetics) that they make here", he continued.

In this case, the police have arrested 12 people. One of them has the initials CS who is the owner of the cosmetics factory.

The manufacture of illegal cosmetics has been going on for 3 years. But the construction in Bekasi has only taken a few months. The profits from the circulation of fake cosmetics have reached hundreds of millions.

"The suspect rented the place since June 2020, but he has been operating since 2018", said Yusri.

"The monthly sales profit is approximately up to IDR 100 million for almost 3 years", he continued.

In this case, the investigators used Article 197 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health in Article 197 sub-Article 196 in conjunction with Article 106 with the threat of 15 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1.5 billion.
