Forerunner Of Indomie In Indonesia To Expansion Abroad

JAKARTA - Even though Indomie is not the first instant noodle brand in Indonesia, make no mistake if its popularity has reached overseas. Indomie was started in 1972.

PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur is a company that has successfully won the hearts of the Indonesian people, after four years of Supermi's existence which was first introduced by PT. Five One Sankyu (later changed to PT. Supermi Indonesia).

Reported by VOI from the August 2018 edition of Warta Export, at the beginning of its appearance, both Supermi and Indomie were two brands of instant noodles that were well known to the public. Even when there was a new brand, almost everyone would call it Supermie or Indomie.

The emergence of Indomie, initially doubted the Indonesian people as a staple food. This was later broken, because Indomie appeared at a relatively affordable price.

In addition, Indomie is accepted by the public because it is very easy to serve and also durable. At first Indomie appeared with the flavor of Chicken Broth Sauce. This is in accordance with the tastes of society at that time.

Indomie's official page wrote that in 1982 the company began experimenting with selling a new culinary flavor variant, namely Indomie Kuah Rasa Chicken Curry.

After one year or in 1983, the legendary Indomie new product variant, Indomie Mi Goreng, reappeared.

Not only domestically, Indomie's popularity is getting higher abroad. This is thanks to the ISO 22000 certification, ISO 9001: 2000 and Halal certification which are the keys to the success of Indomie in overseas expansion.

The popularity of instant noodles has indeed increased sharply until now. World Instant Noodles Association (WINA), noted that global demand for instant noodle products even reached 97.46 billion packs (in 2017).

Now Indomie has 16 factories spread throughout the world and produces around 15 billion packs of Indomie every year. Indomie has also exported its products to more than 60 countries around the world.
