A Series Of New Meta Quest Headset Features, Hand Tracking Is Now More Controllable
JAKARTA - Meta launched a series of new features in v56 for a better Virtual Reality (VR) experience on Quest headsets, including increased hand tracking, a new way to join Meta Horizon Worlds and more.
Meta's 2.2 Hand Tracking feature, which focuses on hand response, now brings a closer experience to the controller.
Updates include a reduction in latency of up to 40 percent in ordinary use and up to 75 percent during rapid movement. Additional increases were also presented to make fast-moving games more responsive.
To try it, Meta asks users to try a new Move Fast demo app or exercise with Litesport and VR Workout.
"We expect more improvements to come as we launch Quest 3 later this year, providing an immersive interaction experience," Meta said in a new feature announcement on its official website, Friday, July 21.
Meta also launched an experiment to help people share VR experiences with friends for real time via live streaming to Facebook while playing favorite games.
Just add a Facebook account to the same Account Center as a Meta account. In addition, the live streaming feature to Facebook is also redesigned.
This is so that it can be used more easily with high-quality videos and continuous access to live chat panels, so users can keep in touch with their friends. The feature will be launched in stages.
Now, when the user starts the call, the chat thread will be created automatically with all the members invited to the call. Users can also start the call from a 1:1 chat thread or group, and all members of the thread are invited to the call.
"This change allows you to easily invite friends to travel with you to the app or the world. We have made Invitations easy to access on profile cards and in chat threads so you can enter the game sooner," said Meta.
The company also added automatic captions for people who are hard to hear or the Deaf community. For now, automatic captions will be available on Meta Quest TV, Explore, and in-headset Meta Quest Store.
Others, users can currently personalize controller button configurations, including exchanging buttons, creating custom layouts, and adjusting their controller settings. The new feature can be found in Accessibility click Settings and select Mobility.
Furthermore, Meta also introduces automatic power to update the app. So, when Quest is charging, the headset will automatically turn on and update the application, OS and unobstructed cloud backup with status notification, so users can return to action in their VR world.
The new Broker is also added to Experimental Settings to enable local attenuation across systems in Quest Pro.
When the setting is disabled by default, the user can enable local attenuation in all specific applications, depending on the developer. Those who activate the dim theme will see an increase in color contrast, especially in the dark view.
