Gegara Indomie, Pregnancy Rate In Ghana Increases
JAKARTA - Indomie is an instant noodle product that is very friendly to our people and has many flavors. It turns out that Indomie is not only popular with the people of Indonesia, this instant noodle product is also loved by the people of Ghana.
As reported by VOI from World Of Buzz, Indomie is the cause of the increasing number of pregnancies in the country of Ghana. How come?
According to Bashiratu Kamal, a gender and employment expert, revealed that Indomie is one of the causes of the high teen pregnancy rate in Ghana.
This was conveyed during a national dialogue on sexual and gender-based violence in the COVID-19 pandemic held by the STAR-Ghana Foundation.
Girls in Ghana are forced to have transactional sexual intercourse where the man promises them something in return. This happened because the poverty rate in Ghana was increasing, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic like now.
Items that are usually used as wages for sex include cell phones, money, and also Indomie.
"In some cases, there is the problem of 'transactional sex', where some parents also encourage their children to participate, so they can earn enough money to support themselves." Bashiratu explained as quoted by VOI.
Then he revealed the condition in which a mother supports her daughter to have "transactional sex" because she believes that the man can help her daughter.
According to Bashiratu, Indomie products have become an offer for sex transactions for whatever you can give.
"Their parents are not working, they are at home and they have to survive. So they are doing this for money." explained Bashiratu.
