MAKASSAR - Alcohol can trigger uncontrollable emotions. In Sinjai, South Sulawesi, a drunken man stabbed a university student.
The root of the problem is trivial. The victim, who was passing by a drunken young man with the initials Ae (19), was asked to give him fried food. But because the victim refused to give fried food, the perpetrator was angry.
"The student was stabbed in the palms, both of them have been treated", said Sinjai Police Chief AKBP Iwan Irmawan to reporters, Friday, January 29.
This incident took place in Bua Village, Tellu Limpoe District, Sinjai, South Sulawesi, on Wednesday, January 27th.
"It's nothing, the young man was drunk, this student passed by, the perpetrator asked for fried food and the student was refused to give him. Someone left a machete, then hit his hand. The perpetrator has been secured", he said.
The perpetrator was indeed consuming alcohol with his friends. After the stabbing, the perpetrator fled.
But a few moments later the perpetrator was secured via the village head. The stabbing perpetrator was immediately handed over to the police.
"The perpetrator had escaped, but then was successfully secured after the village head took him to the police", said AKBP Iwan.
