Entering Vulnerable Groups, Coordinating Minister For PMK Ensures Children And Women Victims Of West Sulawesi Earthquake Are Priorities

JAKARTA - The Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati Puspayoga visited the earthquake-affected areas in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. He wanted to ensure the fulfillment of the rights of women and children refugees.

"Even in refugee camps, we must fulfill their rights under any circumstances. In a post-disaster situation, the specific needs, health services and psychosocial services of affected women and children must be considered," said Bintang as quoted by Antara, Friday, January 29.

According to Bintang, the protection of women and children in disaster areas is a shared responsibility.

Apart from Bintang, the visit was also carried out with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy and the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini.

The Coordinating Minister for PMK, Muhadjir, emphasized the priority of handling in disaster situations for women and children.

"Our arrival at the evacuation site with the Minister of PPPA, because we want to build a new paradigm in disaster management, namely women and children must be prioritized because they are the most vulnerable and easily shaken by disasters," he said.

Muhadjir hopes that through this new paradigm, every disaster management can prioritize women and children to avoid bad impacts, such as physical and psychological health problems.

"When they are not given special attention, the impact will have long consequences in the future. Prioritize women with all their needs and children," he said.
