MK Examines 28 Dispute Cases On The Results Of The 2020 Regional Elections, One Of Which Is South Tangerang

JAKARTA - The Constitutional Court (MK) examined 28 requests for a dispute over the results of regional head elections (Pilkada 2020) on the last day of the preliminary examination at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, Friday, January 29.

As reported by Antara on Friday, January 29, the trial was held in three panels, namely Panel 1 led by Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman and accompanied by Wahiduddin Adams and Enny Nurbaningsih in examining the dispute over the results of the Regional Election in Pandeglang, South Tangerang, Mamuju, Memberamo Raya, Asmat, Boven Digoel, Fakfak, Kaimana and Manokwari.

Panel 2, consisting of Constitutional Justice Aswanto, Suhartoyo and Daniel Yusmic Pancastaki Foekh, examined the dispute over the results of the regional elections for Aru Islands, Southwest Maluku, East Seram, Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, Kuantan Singingi, Central Lampung, and Pesisir Barat.

Then Panel 3 with Constitutional Justice Arief Hidayat, Saldi Isra and Manahan MP Sitompul examined the dispute over the results of the Pilkada on Taliabu Island, Tidore Islands, Ternate, Sula Islands, Ogan Komering Ulu, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan, East Mongondow, Manado and Bolaang Mongondow Timur.

"The trial was opened and declared open to the public", said the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman.

In the preliminary examination session, the agenda carried out is the submission of the main points of the petition by the applicant, ratification of evidence and determination of the related parties.

Meanwhile, in the next week's session, the trial for disputes in the regional elections will be scheduled to hear the KPU respondent's answer and the General Election Supervisory Agency's statement.

A total of 132 applications for the dispute over election results to the regions have been registered by the Constitutional Court. On Tuesday, there were 35 cases examined, on Wednesday, there were 35 cases, and on Thursday, 34 cases.

The Constitutional Court has 45 days to examine and decide cases from the time the request for a dispute over the results of regional head elections is registered.
