After Four Years Lotus Evija Is Ready To Be Handed Over To Its Owner

JAKARTA - The four-year-old Lotus Evija prototype was introduced and is finally ready to be handed over to its buyers. Evija was introduced in July 2019 to be exact, not only the first hypercar of Lotus, but also the first electric car of the brand.

However, since its introduction, this hypercar has experienced various challenges in the production process but at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023, representatives from Lotus said the first shipment to customers would begin at Monterey Car Week next month.

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Lotus showed a special edition of Evija Emerson Fittipaldi Edition which became the first of eight units with these specifications.

However, someone stole the show, namely the symbol "Lotus Nyo" on this car is not "Lotus." Quoted from Carbuzz, July 17, it means the car owner is from China, and this car will be sent there. In China, the "Lotus" brand is already registered, so all Lotus models sold in the country use the 'Lotus Nyo' logo, which means "New Lotus".

It is known, China is the world's largest automotive market, and after Lotus was bought by Chinese car manufacturer Geely, the brand had to adjust its identity because the name ownership rights were never registered by the sports car manufacturer there.

Previously it was reported that all 130 Evija hypercar units had been ordered, and it turned out that Lotus confirmed that several units were still available for bookings.

Evija is powered by two electric motors to produce 1,972 dk of power and 1.704 Nm of torque makes it an extraordinary car, especially considering the weight is only 1,680 kg.

All power comes from a 70-kWh lithium-ion battery positioned behind the cockpit. The battery can be upgraded when battery technology is growing. This battery can be replaced with a new battery module that has the same configuration.

However, when it comes to capabilities, Evija loses a little to Rimac Nevera and Pininfarina Battista, but there is still potential to develop this Lotus hypercar.

Now for buyers who are interested in buying the remaining units, one unit of Evija is valued at around USD 2.6 million or around IDR 39 billion.
