Lapas Di Banda Aceh Dirazia, Seorang Detainee Ketapatan Positif Narkoba
The BANDA ACEH - Dozens of joint officers raided the inmates' rooms of the Class IIA Penitentiary (Lapas) Banda Aceh in the Lambaro area, Aceh Besar District, in order to prevent drug trafficking and drug abuse in the prison. Head of the Correctional Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Aceh Yudi Suseno said the raids were routine activities carried out suddenly. "The raid was to prevent drug trafficking and abuse in prisons. Moreover, the Class IIA Aceh Prison has been declared as a drug net or shining prison," said Yudi Suseno, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 16. The raid that took place on Saturday night involved dozens of joint personnel from the Aceh Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) and the Correctional Division of the Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. In the raid, Aceh BNNP officers conducted random drug tests. However, officers did not find narcotics or other related to the prohibited items Yuudi Suseno said drug tests were carried out by examining urine inmates. Examination was carried out on 30 inmates who were randomly selected. "Of the 30 inmates who underwent urine tests, 29 of them were negative and one positive. The positive ones will not be further consulted with the prison doctor. Because, the person concerned consumes drugs due to illness," he said. In addition to drug tests, the joint officers confiscated various electrical equipment from the inmates' rooms. The equipment includes wind fans, water heaters and cell phones along with battery casings, electric cables, knives, knives, and others. Yuudi Suseno said that even though the confiscated items did not potentially interfere with the security of prisons, they were still not allowed to be in the detention room. "Moreover the existing electrical wires could be dangerous and become a source of fire when there was an electrical short circuit. The use of electrical equipment outside the provisions burdened the country," he said. Yuudi Suseno appreciates the Aceh BNNP conducting raids in Banda Bandh Class II Lapas. The sudden raid was a shock effect on the inmates as well as an evaluation material for officers to further improve supervision. Banda Aceh prison is inhabited by 522 inmates. Of these, 80 of them get prisoners with a death penalty and most inmates with a dozen years and a lifetime. About 70 percent of prisoners is a case of narcotics
