This case was reported by the victim's mother, a resident of Tanjung Redeb, Berau, East Kalimantan, to the Berau Police. Her 16-year-old daughter is pregnant with a man with the initials AJ who is given a ride to live at her house.
"The reporter took the victim to the hospital on the morning of Wednesday, July 12, 2023 because he often complained of stomach pain. However, after being examined by the doctor, the reporter received shocking information that his daughter had been six months pregnant," said Head of Public Relations of the Berau Police, Iptu Suradi, quoted from a written statement, Friday, July 14.
Because he was suspicious, the victim's mother then asked. There, his son admitted that he was molested by a man with the initials AJ who was given a ride to a place to live. The incident is said to have occurred on December 15, 2022.
"The victim also admitted that the perpetrator committed the act several times while his mother's husband was working," said Iptu Suradi.
"When in action, this perpetrator always persuaded the victim with a sweet promise," he said.
Suradi explained that AJ was an acquaintance of one of the victims' families who was riding at his house.
"What is more concerning is that AJ has been treated by the victim's parents since 2010 or 13 years ago. The victim's family did not accept it, then reported AJ to the Berau Police Headquarters on that same day," said Iptu Suradi.
Based on the report, the Berau Police conducted an investigation and conducted a post-mortem on the victim. The reporter and the witness were examined.
"Currently the suspect has been detained at the Berau Police Headquarters, and further processing is being carried out," he said.
The perpetrators are threatened with Article 81 and/or Article 82 paragraph (1) of the Law on Child Protection.
"With the threat of sanctions in the form of imprisonment for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 15 fifteen years and a maximum fine of Rp. 5 billion," he concluded.
