The match was marked by chaos, precisely after Thailand managed to score to 2-2 in normal time. The players and the official team got into a fight before being successfully dispersed by the referee.
In the extra time round, the Indonesian national team managed to score three additional goals and ensure victory with a score of 5-2.
The day after the match was held, one of the officials of the Thailand national team apologized to the Indonesian official team for the riots that occurred during the match.
Two months later, the AFC imposed sanctions on 15 people involved in the riots. Sanctions are given to players and officials of both teams
There were three U-22 national team players who were sanctioned by the AFC for violating discipline and ethics.
The three players are Titan Agung Bagus Fauzi, Komang Teguh Trisnanda, and Muhammad Taufany.
Titan and Komang are prohibited from appearing in six matches and are fined 1000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 14.96 million (exchange rate of Rp. 14,963).
Meanwhile, Taufany was given a ban on playing in six games, but was not required to pay a fine like his two colleagues.
