Watershed Rehabilitation Successfully, PT Kayan Hidro Energy Handover Planting With The Ministry Of Environment And Forestry

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Watershed Control and Protected Forests (Ditjen PDASHL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) is handing over the results of planting reforestation of watersheds (DAS) from PT Kayan Hidro Energi.

During the handover ceremony for watershed reforestation, Mahakam Berau, Head of the Watershed and Protected Forest Control Center (BPDASHL), Sudaryanto said that PT Kayan Hidro Energi had successfully passed the requirements for assessing the handover of watershed reforestation.

"The implementation of planting in the context of rehabilitation of the PT Kayan Hidro Energy watershed in a protected forest area has been declared successful and acceptable," said Sudaryanto when presenting the results of the presentation virtually, Thursday, January 28.

He explained that initially PT Kayan Hidro Energy received approval in principle for the use of a forest area of 2,006 hectares in Peso District, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province, from the Ministry of Forestry (currently the Ministry of Environment and Forestry).

In detail, the lease-to-use forest area permit (IPPKH) for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) was given an area of 225 hectares on December 21, 2015. Then, IPPKH was again given an area of 1,772 hectares as of October 17 2016.

Furthermore, PT Kayan Hydro Energy obtained a determination of the location for planting rehabilitation of watershed areas located in protected forest areas, permanent production forests, and limited production forests within the Kayan watershed / Pangean Sub-watershed in Peso District, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province with a total area of 2,207 hectares. .

"Based on the results of plant assessments in 2020, completion of planting and gradual assessment of 207 hectares with the beginning of planting in 2016. The results of the assessment are 812 stems (plants) per hectare," said Sudaryanto.

Referring to the Regulation of the Minister of Forestry Number P.87 / Menhut-II / 2014 concerning Guidelines for Planting for IPPKH Holders in the Context of Watershed Rehabilitation, it is stated that the success criteria for the number of plants used in the evaluation of plants at the end of year III for planting activities in forest areas are 700 stems per hectares.

"Based on the above provisions, the rehabilitation of the watershed area of PT Kayan Hidro Energy in a protected forest area of 207 hectares with the number of plants assessed by an average of 812 stems per hectare is declared successful and acceptable," he explained.

Continuing, the Operational Director of PT Kayan Hidro Energi, Khaerony thanked all parties involved in achieving the handover of the rehabilitation of the 207 hectare watershed.

Rony said that his company will continue to concentrate on preserving nature and watersheds. Then, PT Kayan Hidro Energy also continues to complete the watershed rehabilitation planting area.

"PT Kayan Hidro Energy, as the IPPKH PLTA holder, will continue to commit to completing all of the rehabilitation of the watershed, approximately 2000 hectares are underway. If it is feasible to be handed over, we will immediately hand over it," said Rony.
