The "Spencer" movie, written by Steven Knight, creator of "Peaky Blinders", centers on a week in Princess Diana's life while spending Christmas holidays with the royal family in Norfolk and leaving her marriage to Prince Charles.
In an interview, Knight admitted that he did not watch The Crown series, which photographed stories about the royal family. Knight didn't want his script to be influenced by other points of view.
Besides Kristen Stewart, Spencer is played by Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, and Sean Harris. This film was directed by Pablo Larrain who worked on Jackie, a film about Jackie Kennedy.
The scoring for this film was composed by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. He's done a lot of film scoring like Norwegian Wood, There Will Be Blood, Phantom Thread, and You Were Never Really Here.
Filming will take place in Germany and England in the fall of 2021. FilmNation is pursuing a screening schedule in 2022 to celebrate Princess Diana's 25th anniversary.
