JAKARTA - The 17th Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD), General TNI (Purn) Wismoyo Arismunandar died of illness on Thursday, January 28, at 04.29 WIB after receiving treatment at Pondok Indah Hospital, South Jakarta.

Wismoyo Arismunandar is a TNI general who is close to the 2nd Indonesian President Soeharto. He is Suharto's brother-in-law. Wismoyo married Sri Hardjanti in 1968. Sri Hardjanti is the younger sister of the first lady Siti Hartinah Soeharto.
Before serving as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) in 1993-1995, General Wismoyo had served as Pangkostrad from 1990-1993.
Not only that, the TNI General who was born in the Indonesian Army Special Forces had also served as Commander General (Danjen) of the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) in 1983-1985.
