IPW Calls The Police Must Be Professional About Panji Gumilang's Legal Status, Head Of Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School

JAKARTA - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) has not yet determined the status of a suspect against the head of the Al-Zaytun Panji Gumilang Islamic boarding school until Monday, July 10. This is considered by Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) to be very common because the Police have to go through various stages to determine the status of a suspect against someone.

"The process of determining the suspect goes through stages, after holding the case of raising the status of fingerprints on the blasphemy case, it is still necessary to carry out the process of examining witnesses," said the Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), Sugeng Teguh Santoso when confirmed by VOI, Monday, July 10.

According to IPW, the police have not yet raised their suspect status against Panji Gumilang, because the police must be more careful in handling cases of alleged blasphemy by the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School leader.

"Of course the National Police must be careful, professional and fair in processing this case. The police cannot because public pressure treats Panji Gumilang unfairly," he said.

Sugeng asked the National Police to remain professional so that the stages in the investigation in this case can run well.

"So we just entrust it to investigators when to determine the status of a suspect," he said.
