This Is It! Qualcomm Made Automotive Module With 4th Generation Snapdragon Chipset
JAKARTA - US chipmaker Qualcomm announced its first software and modules for the Automotive Cockpit using the 4th generation Snapdragon chipset. This tool is the result of his collaboration with Veoneer, at the beginning of last week.
The chipset is released at the Automotive Redefined: Technology Showcase. In addition, Qualcomm also launched the Snapdragon Automotive 4G and the 5G platform which it considers an important feature for the design of the future car.
In his remarks, Nakul Duggal, senior vice president of Qualcomm said that the 4th generation Automotive Cockpit Platform will continue to be developed to provide advanced digital cabin space. And can provide a different driving and passenger experience.
The 4th generation Automotive Cockpit Module is designed to be an engine room for high-performance computing and all-round processing, which can be seamlessly extended to commercial applications.
It comes in three variants, namely Performance, Premiere, and Paramount, each for entry-level, mid-level, and supercomputing platforms.
Additionally, over-the-air (OTA) updates will be easily available throughout the vehicle lifecycle, with Car-to-Cloud with Soft SKU capability.
The new automotive platform also has the 6th generation Kryo CPU, Hexagon Processor, Qualcomm AI Engine, 6th generation Qualcomm Adreno GPU and Spectra ISP.
These provide versatility and result in a variety of assistive platform experiences such as the cockpit, augmented reality head-up-display service (AR-HUD), entertainment and in-cab monitoring.
Qualcomm is also expanding the connectivity capabilities of this platform with Snapdragon Automotive 4G and the 5G Platform.
Drawing on rich technology resources such as integrated Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other precision positioning technologies, the platform can easily connect vehicles to the cloud for a better experience.
During the event, Qualcomm also stated that its predecessor 4th generation Automotive Cockpit Platform is being adopted across tier-1 suppliers such as LG Electronics Inc, Google LLC, Panasonic Corporation, Visteon Corporation and others,
All vehicles that have this platform are projected to be commercially available later this year.
