Jayapura Papua Rocked By M5.0 Earthquake, State Secretariat: President Jokowi Is Fine
JAKARTA - Deputy for Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres) Bey Machmudin said the condition of President Joko Widodo and his entourage was fine after the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 shook Jayapura, Papua, Friday 7 July.
"The President's condition is in good condition and does not feel the earthquake," said Bey via a short message received in Jakarta, Friday.
As is known, Jokowi is on a working visit in Jayapura, Papua, since Wednesday night 5.
Bey said that when the earthquake occurred, Friday, at 13.25 WIT, Jokowi and his entourage were having lunch together at a restaurant located on Jalan Koti, Nbaibu, South Jayapura District, Jayapura City.
Jokowi took a lunch with Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, and National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
"It didn't feel like there was an earthquake and at lunch no one felt it either," said Bey.
Regarding security, Bey said Paspampres already has SOPs in the face of any conditions.

Based on information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 rocked Jayapura, Papua, Friday, at 11.25 WIB. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 28 km at the coordinates of 2.40 South Latitude - 140.07 East Longitude. The epicenter was in the sea 42 km northwest of Jayapura Regency.
