JENEPONTO - House fire occurred in Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi (Sulsel). Six people from one family died because they were trapped in the flames.
"There were six people who died, they were one family. The six victims who died consisted of one family who died consisting of four adults, namely father, mother, child, son-in-law, while the other two people were one child and one baby," said the Head of Sub-division. "The first to see the Village Secretary, at around 23.30 WITA, the witness saw that the fire had grown on the roof of the house on stilts," said AKP Syahrul.
The witness, according to Syahrul, immediately asked for help from the community to extinguish the fire so that it would not spread to other houses. However, the fire quickly burned a house on stilts along with its contents. The victim shouted for help.
"When the fire got bigger the victim shouted for help from the people around the location trying to save the victim," said Syahrul.
The fire quickly grew so that the victims and their families could not save themselves.
"The house on stilts belonging to the victim was leveled to the ground. Four units of fire trucks from Jeneponto Regency arrived at the scene and immediately extinguished the remaining flames," he said.
