Indonesian Navy: 2 New Mine Hunting Vessels Scheduled To Arrive July 2023
JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali estimates that two new German-made mine hunting vessels, namely KRI Pulau Fani-731 and KRI Pulau Fanildo-732, are scheduled to arrive in Surabaya, East Java, within the next 2 weeks or in July 2023.
The two ships, transported by the docking ship, are currently still on their way from their construction site at the Abeking & Resmussen Galat, Lamwerder-Bremen, Germany.
"This mine hunting ship has been transported by a Dock ship. This is on its way, both of which have been transported by a large ship, the name is a Dock ship, it can carry two ships at once, and maybe within 2 weeks it will arrive directly in Surabaya, and its placement is also in Fleet Command II," said Admiral Ali, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 3.
The Indonesian Navy is currently still thinking about deploying old mine hunting vessels in Fleet Command (Koarmada) II.
"Maybe it will be 'dispersed' (transferred) to another Fleet because in the context of uniforming and equalizing the fleets," said the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy.

Admiral Ali on May 31, 2023, explained that the two new mine hunting vessels (mine counter measure vessel) were equipped with various cutting-edge technologies, including materials that use non-magnetic steel, degaussian system, and electric motor propulsion that can reduce noise.
"So, this technology is quite contemporary and is a fairly sophisticated mine hunting ship, where the material is from a non-magnetic steel. So, the material is steel but does not have a magnetic field," said Kasal.
The delivery ceremony for the two ships, named KRI Pulau Fani-731 and KRI Pulau Fanildo-732, took place on May 26, 2023 at the Abeking & Resmussen Group, Lamwerder-Bremen, Germany. The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy directly led the delivery ceremony (delivery) of the two Indonesian Navy mine-seeking vessels.
Along with ship shipments, the Indonesian Navy also sent a total of eight personnel to Germany to take part in training on mine hunting vessels. The personnel sent attended 39 days of training in Germany.
