BPJS Kesehatan Remains Responsible For The Cost Of COVID-19 Patients During The Endemic Based On Medical Indications
JAKARTA - The Health Social Security Administration Agency (BPJS) bears the costs of handling COVID-19 patients participating in the National Health Insurance Program (JKN) based on medical indications.
"It depends on what the diagnosis is, because if you get COVID-19, whether you are breathing, or your brain, that's what stands out," said BPJS Kesehatan President Director Ghufron Mukti in the FMB9 Dialogue which was followed online in Jakarta, Monday, July 3, which was confiscated by Antara.
In financing patients participating in the JKN Program, he said, BPJS Kesehatan adhered to diagnosis enforcement based on the main symptoms experienced by patients.
Ghufron said the claim of financing also applies to additional diagnosis if according to the doctor it is necessary.
In accordance with the BPJS Health service flow, initial services are carried out in primary health facilities such as health centers or health clinics, which can then refer patients to health facilities such as hospitals that are able to handle COVID-19 patients.
"If the primary service is referred to the hospital (hospital), the hospital will enforce the diagnosis. We will pay if it is according to medical indications," said Ghufron.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Maxi Rein Rondonuwu ensured that all hospitals serving COVID-19 patients had isolation facilities and standard operating procedures (SOP) for patient handling.
"Special services through self-regulation are regulated. Since 2020 we have asked all hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients, so that currently hospitals have 10 percent of their treatment capacity for isolation rooms," he said.
If during the endemic, there was an extraordinary occurrence of COVID-19 transmission, Maxi said, then there was a government regulation requiring hospitals to increase the capacity of isolation rooms to 30 percent of the treatment rooms.
"The handling of COVID-19 in hospitals is now like an ordinary disease. When he enters the ER, he just needs to be put in isolation, because each hospital already has a SOP for handling COVID-19," he said.
