Inflation Is Increasingly Sloping, Now 3.52 Percent In June 2023
JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that consumer price index inflation (IHK) in June 2023 was 3.52 percent year on year (yoy).
Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, BPS Pudji Ismartini, said the figure was lower than May 2023 which was 4.00 percent.
"The highest inflation occurred in Ambon at 6.10 percent and the lowest in Gunungsitoli at 1.01 percent", he said during a press conference on Monday, July 3.
According to Pudji, inflation was formed due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indexes, such as food, beverages and tobacco as large as, clothing and footwear groups, housing groups, water, electricity, and household fuels.
Then, equipment groups, equipment and routine maintenance of households, health groups, transportation, recreation groups, sports, and culture, as well as education groups.
"Meanwhile, expenditure groups are experiencing a decline in the index, namely information, communication, and financial services groups", he said.
Pudji also said that the monthly inflation rate or month to month (mtm) in June 2023 was 0.14 percent and the year to date (ytd) in inflation in January-June 2023 was 1.24 percent.

"The inflation rate for the core component in June 2023 is 2.58 percent yoy, mtm inflation is 0.12 percent, and YTD inflation is 1.06 percent", he said.
For information, this year the government targets IHK inflation to be at the level of 3 percent plus minus 1 percent. The score was achieved last month when it was perched at 4 percent.
Meanwhile, the surge in inflation occurred since the second half of 2022 when there was a surge in commodity prices accompanied by fuel oil (BBM) price adjustments.
