Why Should You Be Vaccinated Twice? This Is The Explanation
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo was vaccinated against COVID-19 twice, on Wednesday, January 13, and today, Wednesday, January 27. Then, why do you have to be vaccinated twice?
The spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Reisa Broto Asmoro explained that the vaccine was carried out twice because the first was to trigger the immune system. Meanwhile, the second one is to strengthen the body's immunity.
"So the first dose is done to trigger initial immunity, then followed by a second injection after 14 days which aims to strengthen the immune response that has been formed before", said Reisa, Wednesday, January 27.
"So these two doses will trigger a more optimal and effective antibody response in the future," he added.
But, he continued, these antibodies will only be optimal 14-20 days after the second vaccination injection is carried out.
Today, President Jokowi underwent the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination. After being vaccinated today, he admitted that he didn't feel anything the same as when he was vaccinated for the first time.
"So after the first injection of the vaccine on January 13, two weeks ago now, today I got the second shot", Jokowi said after the vaccinating process at the State Palace, Wednesday, January 27.
The former governor of DKI Jakarta underwent the vaccination process at 08.30 WIB. Before being vaccinated, he had his health checked first, starting from blood pressure checks to answering journalists' questions.
The doctor who injected the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac was Prof. Dr. Abdul Muttalib and this time his hands did not tremble, like when they first performed their duties.
After being vaccinated, Jokowi admitted that he didn't feel anything the same as after he got vaccinated for the first time.
"Just like two weeks ago, I didn't feel anything", he said.
Even so, Jokowi assessed that later he could feel stiff like the first vaccine. However, he thought it was a normal thing because after this he would immediately carry out his activities.
"In the past, after two hours there were only aches and pains, now I think it's the same. I also have activities everywhere", he said.
As previously reported, President Joko Widodo became the first person to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in the national vaccination program on January 13. In his statement, the head of state said that the vaccination process was quite simple and fast.
This inaugural vaccination program was also attended by a number of elements of society and high state officials, such as the TNI Commander, the National Police Chief, representatives of businessmen, representatives of medical personnel, representatives of small traders, and representatives of religious leaders.
