KUPANG - The Arnoldus Kupang Catholic Education Foundation admits that it received Rp500 million from the inactive former Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate. The foundation stated that it was ready to return the funds in its entirety if it was proven from the BTS 4G Bakti Kominfo project corruption fund flow.
Yulius Yasinto said this was related to the flow of funds in the corruption case of the 4G Kominfo RI BTS project which was revealed during a trial at the Corruption Court of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) on Tuesday, June 27.
Chairman of the Management of the Catholic Education Foundation Arnoldus Kupang Pater Yulius Yasinto explained that his party received assistance funds of Rp. 500 million from Johnny G. Plate in March 2022.
The provision of assistance has been conveyed by a politician from the NasDem Party who attended the invitation of the Arnoldus Kupang Catholic Education Foundation on February 23, 2022.
"The donation funds were delivered as a personal and spontaneous donation by Johnny G. Plate at the end of his remarks on the inauguration of the buildings, as a contribution to the development of information technology equipment and systems at the Catholic University of Widya Mandira," said Yulius Yasinto in a written statement quoted by Antara, Friday, June 30.
Yulius emphasized that if it is proven that the funds are sourced from corruption funds, the Arnoldus Catholic Education Foundation is ready to return the funds in full.
The former Chancellor of the Catholic University, Widya Mandira Kupang, admitted that he was concerned when he learned that the information about the possible funds did not come from Johnny G. Plate's personal funds, as stated in the trial at the Corruption Court.
"We are willing to provide information if necessary," said Yulius Yasinto.
