Basarnas found a teenager Umbu Walvin Alexander (17) who was missing while traveling at Tanggedu Waterfall, East Sumba, NTT, in a state of death.
"The victim has been found by a joint SAR team in East Sumba Regency and when found he is dead," said Head of the Kupang Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) I Putu Sudayana in Kupang, Wednesday.
Umbu Walvin Alexander (17) was reported missing after drowning in the Tanggedu Falls tourist area on Sunday (25/6) at around 15:15 WITA.
I Putu Sudayana said the SAR team at the Waingapu SAR Post received information from the Haharu Police Chief, East Sumba Regency, that a resident drowned when he came to travel at the Tanggedu Waterfall tourist location.
"Families and colleagues and communities around the scene have tried to find the victim, but the victim was not found," he said.
After receiving the report, the SAR team consisting of four people was immediately moved to the scene to carry out search and rescue operations for victims.
Search operations since Sunday-Sunday (25-26/6), he said, involved BPBD, TNI and Polri officers, families and local communities, but the victims were not found, so the SAR team continued to search until the third day.
On Tuesday (27/6) at 17.30 WITA, the SAR team managed to find Umbu Walvin Alexander (17) who had died.
Therefore, he asked the public to be more careful in carrying out various activities around the location of the waterfall to prevent unwanted things from happening.
"You have to be careful when you are around the location of the waterfall because the rocks are very slippery, making it easier for people to fall due to slipping," said I Putu Sudayana
