Bareskrim Follows Up On Allegations Of Blasphemy By Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School Leaders
JAKARTA - The head of the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, Panji Gumilang, was reported about the alleged blasphemy. The National Police stated that they would follow up on the report.
"The National Police receives every report from the public, of course the National Police will conduct an investigation," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Nurul Azizah when confirmed, Saturday, June 24.
The investigation process was carried out to determine whether or not there was a violation behind the report. By the rules, the investigative team will ask for witness statements who are aware of the alleged blasphemy case.
If a criminal element is found, the investigator will conduct a case title. Then, the case will be increased to the investigation stage. However, if no criminal element is found, the investigation can be stopped.
"Investigation first to determine whether or not there is an element of a criminal act related to the reported case," said Nurul.
Meanwhile, Panji Gumilang was reported by the Pancasila Defenders Advocate Forum to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. The report relates to allegations of blasphemy.
"The actions in the poko are hostile, blasphemy against religion held in Indonesia," said one of the reporters representatives, Ihsan Tanjung.
In the report, the context of blasphemy was allegedly carried out by Panji Gumilang regarding Al-Zaytun's teachings which were deemed to deviate from Islamic teachings.
One example of Al-Zaytun's teachings that are considered deviant is greetings. Then, allow women to be preachers. Then about the Qur'an called made by the Prophet Muhammad.
The report has been registered with the number LP/B/163/VI/2023/SPKT/BARESKRIM. So, in the report, Panji Gumilang was suspected of violating Article 156 a of the Criminal Code.
