West Java Is The Biggest Investment Contributor, Head Of BKPM: Other Governors Must Be Like Ridwan Kamil!
JAKARTA - West Java recorded a total investment of IDR 120.4 trillion in 2020. This province is the largest contributor to investment in Indonesia.
This figure is equivalent to 14.6 percent nationally. This success is inseparable from the efforts of West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil who was able to promote his region to become an investment destination.
Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said that Ridwan Kamil's efforts should be emulated by governors from other provinces in attracting investors to their regions.
"Indeed, other governors need to learn and discuss how governance and services by the Governor of West Java (Ridwan Kamil) to investors. Or maybe because there is Patimban or extraordinary workforce productivity," he said, in a webinar on 'Accelerated Economic Recovery', Tuesday, January 26.
The total investment both from within and outside the country in West Java is IDR 120.4 trillion or 14.6 percent. Then, in second place is DKI Jakarta with IDR 95 trillion or 11.5 percent. Then, East Java with IDR 78.3 trillion or equivalent to 9.5 percent. Next, Banten with IDR 62 trillion or equivalent to 7.5 percent and Central Java with IDR 50.2 trillion or 6.1 percent.
Investment in 2020 has reached the target. From the change in target to IDR 817.2 trillion, BKPM received IDR 826.2 trillion, or the equivalent of 101.1 percent.
In this achievement, said Bahlil, this is the first time in the last 5 years that the total investment outside Java has been greater with a percentage of 50.5 percent or 417.4 trillion. Meanwhile, in Java, it is only 49.5 percent or equivalent to IDR 408.8 trillion.
However, Bahlil said, interestingly, when the COVID-19 pandemic still hit Indonesia, the realization of domestic investment (PMDN) was greater, namely IDR 103.6 trillion or 48.3 percent, while foreign investment (PMA) was IDR 111.1 trillion. or 51.7 percent.
"It shows that national entrepreneurs if we manage it well and give assurance and hope well, then they will focus," he said.
In aggregate, investment realization in the fourth quarter of 2020 amounted to IDR 214.7 trillion, an increase of 2.7 percent on a quarter over quarter (qoq) basis. Meanwhile, when compared to year on year (yoy), investment in the fourth quarter increased by 3.1 percent.
