Natalius Pigai Gorilla Insult Case, Kapolda Papua: It Has Been Handled, Not Provoked
JAKARTA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw stated that the alleged racism case against Natalius Pigai is currently being handled by the National Police Headquarters.
Therefore, people in Papua are asked not to be provoked and remain calm and not take action.
Kapolda Paulus said that he had received representatives from community and religious figures who reported Ambroncius Nababan's statement who uploaded a photo of Natalius Pigai with a gorilla.
"For this reason, it is hoped that the public will not be provoked because the case is handled by the police," Paul hoped as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 26.
The chairman of Batak Community Harmony in Papua Province, Kenan Sipayung, in his press release in Jayapura said that Ambroncius Nababan's act of racism was criticized by his party.
"The harmony of the Batak Community of Papua Province asks the police of the Republic of Indonesia to thoroughly investigate and process it in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations," he said.
In line with Kenan Sipayung, Batak community leader Makmur Nababan accompanied by the Chairman of the Batak Youth Association (IPBP) Jee Somosir said that what Ambroncius was doing was very disturbing.
"What Ambroncius Nababan did was an act that was against the law, and even deeply troubled the Batak people who live side by side with people from various ethnic groups in Papua," he explained.
