The House Of Representatives Even Intervened In Facing Chaotic Luxury Hotels In The Revitalization Of TIM
JAKARTA - The polemic against the construction of luxury hotels in the revitalization of Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) has reached the ears of the Indonesian Parliament. After hearing the reasons for the refusal of the artists, Commission X DPR RI will continue discussions with the local government.
In the next agenda, the DPR will ask for clarification from the regional government, namely the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, the Chairperson of DKI Jakarta DPRD Prasetio Edi Marsudi. Not to be missed, the DPR also summoned a BUMD working on the revitalization project, PT Jakarta Propertindo (JakPro).
The reason for the rejection of the construction of luxury hotels could be handled by the DPR because the DKI DPRD has not yet processed the wishes of the artists. In fact, the artists who are members of the Forum for Artists Care for the TEAM (FSPTIM) have held hearings at the DPRD.
Jakarta DPRD Chairman Prasetio Edi Marsudi said that the settlement of the luxury hotel polemic would be resolved by the DPR, considering that the Senayan parliament members had intervened.
"Why do you have to go to the DPR, because TEAM is a national cultural site. I will be summoned by the DPR RI tomorrow, I want to chat with the discussion," said Prasetio when met at the DPRD DKI Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 18.
In a meeting with the DPR, Prasetio will put forward the view that the revitalization of the TIM, especially the construction of luxury hotels, is being opposed by artists because the DKI Provincial Government is not open to socializing.
"We recommend that the artists first facilitate what they want, don't talk about the commercial. These artists have thoughts that we don't understand. When we talk about commercial issues first, they will definitely refuse," said Prasetio.
For information, at first this rejection was loudly voiced by several art activists in a discussion entitled "Where Do PKJ-TIM Will Be Taken?" which was held at the HB Jassin Documentation Center, TIM, on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. During the discussion, a number of art activists at TIM rejected the construction of a five-star hotel.
Chairman of the FSPTIM Radhar Panca Dahana considers the construction of luxury hotels in contrast to the preamble of the TIM as a center for creative arts and entertainment arts. This was stated in the Decree of former DKI Governor Ali Sadikin when inaugurating the TIM in 1968.
Actually, Radhar did not reject the TIM revitalization. However, they firmly rejected the commercialization of TIM in the form of luxury hotel development. Not to mention, the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government seem to be a dumb wall seeing the hotel refusal efforts.
"We are not rejecting the revitalization, a new TEAM is okay, but not with the arrogance of power. Talk to us as the main stakeholders. He has only been governor for 50 years, why aren't we talking about it for 50 years," said Radhar.
Currently, the revitalization of the TIM is still ongoing. The TIM revitalization progress has entered into the second phase of construction, namely the revitalization of the Graha Bakti Budaya (GBB) building, which has begun to be demolished. The GBB building will be rebuilt with a modern and minimalist design.
Meanwhile, the construction of phase 1 which started earlier is still ongoing. The construction includes a parking building, the relocation of the Amir Hamzah Mosque, a library building, the HB Literary Documentation Center. Jassin, public hallways, art galleries, dining areas, retail stalls, and art guesthouses (hotels).
