Politician Gerindra Habiburokhman Suggests Rizieq Shihab Case To Be Resolved By AGO Through Restorative Justice

JAKARTA - Members of Commission III of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra faction Habiburokhman suggested that the case against Rizieq Shihab be resolved using a restorative justice approach.

This was conveyed to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin during a Working Meeting between Commission III of the DPR. and the Attorney General's Office.

"I hope this can be done with a restorative justice approach. The first is the case of the Habib Rizieq Shihab crowd," said Habiburokhman during a work meeting broadcast on the YouTube account of the DPR RI, Tuesday, January 26.

This restorative justice approach is considered appropriate. This is because this case cannot be rested solely on Rizieq.

In addition, Rizieq Shihab, called Habiburokhman, has also admitted his mistake in the crowd case which resulted in him being imprisoned and responsible for his actions.

"I heard right away that he had clarified his apologies and I even heard that he then paid a fine," he said.

"So, I think that by not intervening in the legal process and by respecting the law enforcers who do this, this process can be carried out by means of a restorative justice process," he added.

As previously reported, Rizieq Shihab was named a suspect in two cases in the crowd. First, the crowd case in Petamburan. The high priest of FPI is suspected of violating Article 160 and Article 216 of the Criminal Code.

There is also Article 160 containing incitement to the public to commit a criminal act resulting in a health emergency in the community. Meanwhile, Article 216 of the Criminal Code contains non-compliance with laws.

Meanwhile in the second case, Rizieq was named a suspect in the case of a crowd in Gadog, Megamendung, Bogor Regency, West Java.
