IDI Supports Government To Revoke COVID-19 Pandemic Status Into Endemic
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Moh. Adib Khumaidi stated that his party supports the government in revocation of the COVID-19 pandemic status by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"The position of IDI in this case is to support the government's efforts to revoke the status of the COVID-19 pandemic," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 22.
Adib said that his party also appreciated the government for the revocation of the status of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was carried out based on references from data on the development of COVID-19, which was always updated.
He said this support was a form of manifestation of the medical professional organization, along with all health workers who have always been partners with the government, in helping to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic which has lasted for approximately three years.
"As long as that is the case, we doctors are part of efforts to transform health in Indonesia," said the man who is also the Chief Executive of the Indonesian Ulema Council Health Institute (LK MUI).
However, he stressed that the public should not be too late in the euphoria of the revocation of the status of the COVID-19 pandemic by always being aware of the threat of the disease that could come at any time.
President Jokowi officially revoked the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and Indonesia began to enter the COVID-19 endemic period on Wednesday (21/6).
The decision, said President Jokowi, was taken by the government by considering the number of daily confirmed cases of COVID-19 which was close to nil.
Jokowi said the survey series results showed that 99 percent of Indonesians already have COVID-19 antibodies.
"Of course, with this decision, the national economy will move better and improve the status of the people's social economy," said President Jokowi.
