Meeting With Commission III DPR RI, Attorney General: There Are 7 Prospective Suspects In The Corruption Case At PT Asabri

JAKARTA - During a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin explained that there were 7 people who would be named as suspects in the corruption case at PT Asabri which had caused state finances of up to IDR 17 billion.

This was conveyed by him when describing a number of cases he was working on in the field of special crimes.

"18 witnesses have been investigated and seven potential suspects have been carried out," said Burhanuddin in a work meeting broadcast on the YouTube account of the DPR RI, Tuesday, January 26.

He did not explain who the suspect candidate would be. However, the 7 potential suspects can still be increased because the investigation of this case is still ongoing.

"(The number of suspects, red) can still grow again because it is still being investigated and we cannot yet convey the names of the suspects," he said.

In addition to the corruption case at PT Asabri, Burhanuddin also explained the development of the corruption case at BPJS Ketenagakerjaan that occurred in the 2016-2020 period. He said that currently there were 20 witnesses being examined in the investigation process.

Previously reported, during 2012 to 2019, PT. Asabri has worked with several parties to regulate and control Asabri's investment funds in share purchase investments of IDR 10 trillion through affiliated parties and IDR 13 trillion investment in mutual funds.

This was done through several investment management companies (MI) in a way that deviated from the provisions of the prevailing laws and regulations.

The act is suspected to have resulted in state financial losses as stipulated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
