Waiting For The Announcement Of Regional Head Candidates From PDIP
JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan will announce a number of regional head candidates on Wednesday, February 19. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said PDIP General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri had decided on one pair of candidates for provincial level regional heads and 47 pairs for district / city heads.
"PDI Perjuangan will announce the candidate pairs for regional head and deputy regional head Wave I on Wednesday, February 19 at 14.00 WIB," said Hasto in a written statement as quoted by VOI, Tuesday, February 18.
Hasto said that the names to be announced in the first batch were mostly incumbent candidates who were considered successful in leading their regions in the previous period.
He also said that the 2020 Pilkada was a momentum for consolidation to strengthen party institutions in preparing local leaders.
So, after the candidate for regional head is announced to the public, they are obliged to take part in the program at the PDIP-owned party school.
"The party continues to galvanize party cadres to become ideological leaders, have a nationalist character, have a populist spirit to bring social justice to the welfare of the people," he said.
The PDIP champion in the Solo Pilkada has yet to be announced
Although he will announce one candidate pair for regional head at the provincial level and 47 candidates for the pair at the regency / city level, Hasto said there are a number of regions whose candidates have not been announced on Wednesday, February 18. These areas are Solo, Makassar and the regencies / cities of Bali.
Regarding the candidate for regional head of Solo, Hasto said there was no problem in determining it even though there was the name of President Joko Widodo's eldest son. It's just that, he said, many aspirations came in so that the announcement of the candidate for leader of the City of Solo would be carried out after 23 February.
"Basically, Solo is ready. However, the implementation is in accordance with the aspirations, after February 23. Later it will coincide with candidates from Bali and also several provincial capital cities such as Makassar," he said.
Hasto argued that the postponement of the announcement of candidates from Bali, Solo and Makassar was carried out considering that Wednesday, February 19, was a religious day for Hindus, namely Galungan Day. "Later, Solo will be together with Bali and Makassar City," he said.
As for the East Java region, Hasto said, currently the party bearing the bull symbol is conducting a mapping. However, in the first batch of announcements, there will be a number of regional head candidates from Ngawi, Lamongan, Malang, and Sumenep who will still be announced.
