Menparekraf Encourage Denpasar To Enter UNESCO Creative City Networks
JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno encouraged Denpasar City, Bali, to immediately enter the UNESCO Creative City Network (UNESCO Creative Cities Network/UCCN) so that MSMEs become more developed and create more jobs.
"I see that Denpasar City has superior creative potential. I encourage the government, creative business actors and the community to collaborate and innovate in the development of this creative economy sector," said Sandiaga Uno in Denpasar, Sunday, quoted by Antara.
Sandiaga conveyed this in an event entitled Kelana Nusantara at the Taman Jepun Palace, Denpasar, which was attended by representatives of MSMEs as well as creative economy players in Denpasar City.
Also present on the occasion was the Regional Secretary of Denpasar City IB Alit Wiradana accompanied by the Acting Head of the Denpasar City Tourism Office Laxmy Saraswaty and the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office Tjok Bagus Pemayun.
According to him, if Denpasar City could become a member of UCCN, it would certainly have the opportunity to develop Denpasar City cooperation with other areas for sustainable urban development.
Sandiaga hopes that Denpasar can follow the two cities that in 2023 represent Indonesia in the UCCN, namely Surakarta City and Depok.
Previously there was Bandung as City of Design, Ambon as City of Music, Pekalongan as City of Art and also Jakarta as City of Literature
Sandiaga also hopes that Denpasar City will immediately agree or choose the superior creative economy sub-sector so that it becomes a strengthening for Denpasar City as a creative city.
In addition, Sandiaga Uno also invites creative economy actors to improve the quality of their products so that they can compete in the world class.
"By reviving tourism, of course it will also have an impact on the opening of the market for creative actors so that the community's economy can continue to move," he said.
Meanwhile, Denpasar City Secretary Ida Bagus Alit Wiradana said that in the future Denpasar City is ready to develop tourism instruments in Denpasar City.
"The Denpasar City Government is ready to collaborate and innovate to continue to support the rise of the tourism sector and the creative economy. Especially after the impact of the COVID-19 storm," said Alit Wiradana.
With so many historical sides and the existence of heritage areas, as well as the existence of a sister city program with several cities in the world, Alit Wiradana believes that it will be an attraction for Denpasar City.
"To support the development of the creative economy, Denpasar City has held several events such as the D-Youth Festival and also the Denpasar Festival. The event is a combination of cultural arts and also the development of the creative economy in Denpasar City," he said.
The Kelana Nusantara event in Denpasar City is packaged in a form of discussion which also involves creative economy actors in Denpasar City.
The Kelana Nusantara program is an effort by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy which is held to encourage the development of networks between fellow creative economy actors, the city government, and the central government.
